Since October 2023, Peter Ertl has served as Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and International Affairs at TU Wien. He is also a member of the Faculty of Technical Chemistry where he is a Full Professor of BioScience Technologies. Dr Ertl holds MSc degrees in Food Sciences and Biotechnology as well as a PhD in Chemistry and conducted his postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley. His international experience includes research stays and fellowships at UC San Francisco (US), Nanyang Technological University (Sgp) and Imperial College London (UK). He is the recipient of a number of prizes and awards, including Austria’s National Research Prize in 2022, while his innovations have led to the creation of five start-up companies.
