Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI)
Michael Wiesmüller, a trained philosopher, joined the Federal Ministry in the late 1990s and is currently Head of Department for Key Enabling Technologies for Industrial Innovation. Core tasks of the department include the design of technology and research funding programmes for the high-tech sector, the development of corresponding national R&D strategies and programmes, and representative functions in international bodies. This also includes funding programmes for applied AI research, facilitating the growth of the Austrian AI ecosystem, international and European collaboration and the development of strategies in the field of AI.
