Council for European Public Space
Matthias Pfeffer is a TV journalist, publicist, philosopher and the Founder and Director of the Think-and Do Tank Council for European Public Space Berlin. He began his career as a war reporter for SPIEGEL TV and Sat.1 before establishing FOCUS TV (Hubert Burda Media, Munich) in 1995, which he led as managing director and editor-in-chief for 20 years. He is the author of “The Human Imperative: Power, Freedom, and Democracy in the Age of AI” (2023), co-authored with Paul Nemitz) and “Human Thinking and Artificial Intelligence: A Call for Action” (2021). In 2022, he served as Visiting Professor at the University of Bergamo, Department of History of Science and Philosophy, focusing on the epistemology of artificial intelligence. From 2023 to 2024, he has been lecturing at the Technical University of Munich on the relationship between digitisation and democracy. He lives in Berlin and Munich.
