Hannes Werthner is a retired Computer Science Professor at the Faculty of Informatics, TU Wien, where he also served as Dean. Prior to joining TU Wien, he had several professorships at Austrian and international Universities. His research is in DSS, E-Commerce, E-Tourism, and Recommender Systems. He was also active in starting new initiatives, such as the Vienna PhD School of Informatics and the i2c (Informatics Innovation Center). In the area of E-Tourism, the International Federation for IT and Tourism (IFITT) grants the “Hannes Werthner Tourism and Technology Lifetime Achievement Award” to outstanding persons in the field. And he is a key figure in the Digital Humanism Initiative with its Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism, as curator of the Digital Humanism Fellowship Program at the IWM and as author / co-editor of several books on the topic.
