Clemens Pig is Chief Executive Officer of APA – Austria Presse Agentur, Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Swiss news agency group Keystone-SDA, and President of the Austrian Cooperative Association (ÖGV). He completed his doctorate at the University of Innsbruck in 2012, founded the start-up MediaWatch – Institute for Media Analysis in 1996, and joined APA in 2008 following its sale, where he has served as CEO since 2016. Pig was awarded the Science Prize for Public Relations in 2013, named Media Manager of the Year in 2018, and Communicator of the Year in 2021 and 2023. In 2023, the first volume of his book series “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was published, in which he examines the role of independent journalism as a counterweight to disinformation. Volume two, “Welt ohne Wahrheit”, followed in May 2026, outlining strategies for defending democracy in the new world and communication order.
