40th ACM SIGSIM International Conference on Principles of Advanced Discrete Simulation (ACM SIGSIM-PADS 2026)
The ACM SIGSIM-PADS 2026, taking place from June 23 to 26, 2026 in Vienna is dedicated to cutting-edge research at the intersection of computer science, modeling, and simulation. In addition to current developments in various methodological fields, the development of sustainable, transparent and fair simulation processes is a key focus of the conference. Simulation is far more than just a technical tool – it is a vital building block for achieving the goals of digital humanism.
By modeling complex systems and exploring potential future scenarios, simulation provides the foundation for evidence-based, human-centered decision-making. Whether in the healthcare sector, where models are used to analyse the impact of novel therapies or the distribution of medical services in order to support the development of ethical and inclusive solutions, or in urban planning, where they contribute to the design of sustainable and socially just spaces: simulations enable us to assess the impact of technologies and policy measures on people and society before implementation.
Through open models and the involvement of stakeholders in the simulation process, solutions can be developed that are not only efficient but also democratically legitimate, fostering participatory and transparent technology design. In collaboration with DigHum 2026, ACM SIGSIM-PADS 2026 demonstrates how simulations serve as a bridging technology between technological progress and human values. They offer the opportunity to develop sustainable, fair, and ethically responsible solutions—thereby bringing Digital Humanism to life.
