Rania Wazir, Ph.D., is co-founder and CTO of leiwand.ai – a startup dedicated to supporting companies and organisations with the development and deployment of trustworthy AI. Rania is a data scientist and mathematician, leading projects such as investigations into algorithmic bias for the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, as well as piloting the AI Act mandated Union Testing Facilities for the EC. She participates in the CEN/CENELEC and ISO/IEC committees on AI and has a leadership role in the development of several AI standards – including the just-published ISO/IEC 12792 Transparency Taxonomy of AI Systems, and the CEN/CENELEC bias project in support of the AI Act. Rania is a member of the advisory committee on the ethics of AI for the Austrian UNESCO commission.
