Stefan Woltran is Full Professor for Foundations of Artificial Intelligence and Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Informatics at Vienna University of Technology. His research focuses on problems in the area of knowledge representation and reasoning, argumentation, complexity analysis in AI and logic programming. In 2013, he received the prestigious START award from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and since 2018 he is a fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence. He served as co-organizer of international conferences, including IJCAI-ECAI, KR and COMMA, and organized the first Interdisciplinary Science and Research Conference on Digital Humanism (dighum-res) in 2025. Since 2025 he chairs the steering committee of the Digital Humanism Initiative.
