Johann Dorn bridges the disciplines of science, technology, and cultural preservation. He holds a computational chemistry degree from the University of Vienna and currently works as a data scientist at the Austrian meteorological service GeoSphere Austria. He is a passionate advocate for free and open-source software (FOSS) and founded Onipa Books, a startup that publishes bilingual books with a focus on African languages. Notably, he is also a member of Masakhane, a grassroots natural language processing (NLP) initiative for Africa, spearheaded by Africans.
