Dr David Passarelli is Director of UN University’s Center for Policy Research. He oversees the strategic direction and management of the Centre’s research programmes and currently leads UNU-CPR’s four-year Global Governance Innovation Platform (2025–2028). From 2022 to 2023, he headed the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism. He serves as UNU’s representative to the UN High-Level Committee on Programmes. His research has been commissioned by many partners and governments including UNICEF, UNEP, UNDCO, the UK Ministry of Defence. His academic and policy research focuses on global governance, international development and global economic governance, migration, data governance and foresight. He holds a Doctorate in International Development from the University of Oxford and serves on the Board of Directors of the Academic Council on the United Nations System.
